2008 Davis Cup Quarterfinal ties for 11-13 April
From the 11th to the 13th of April the 2008 Davis Cup quarterfinals will be contested by eight of the top national men’s teams in international tennis. The matches will be played in four separate international venues, with each team striving to earn a place in the semi-finals scheduled for September.
The match-up between France and the United States in Winston-Salem promises to provide some of the most exciting tennis of the weekend, with fans treated to singles match-ups between American players Andy Roddick and James Blake and talented Frenchmen Richard Gasquet and Jo Tsonga.
Meanwhile Spain will travel to Germany for a tie they are likely to dominate. Rafael Nadal and David Ferrer look too powerful for Germany’s likely team of Philipp Kohlschreiber and Nicolas Kiefer.
Sweden will be travelling to Buenos Aires, Argentina for a tough fixture that will see Robin Soderling, Jonas Bjorkman and Thomas Johansson face-up against some top Argentinean clay specialists, including the likes of David Nalbandian and Guillermo Canas.
The final set of games for the 2008 Davis Cup quarterfinals will be played at the Luzhniki Sports complex in Moscow where the Czech Republic will face a powerful Russian team on indoor clay courts.
