Tennis fans may be treated to a star-studded doubles match-up at the Blackrock Tour of Champions in Macao later this year, when Roger Federer teams up with Bjorn Borg to take on John McEnroe and another top ranked ATP tour player.

Rafael Nadal is the preferred team mate for McEnroe and would set up an unforgettable encounter between four of the greatest players in the  modern era.

While Rafael Nadal has expressed interest in playing in the Blackrock Tour of Champions match, his participation will be subject to the performance of the Spanish Davis Cup team later in the year.

Spain are scheduled to play the United States in a Davis Cup semi-final in September. If the Spanish win the semi-final, Nadal would need to attend the Davis Cup finals scheduled to take place the day after the Blackrock Tour of Champions doubles match. If Nadal is unable to attend the event, America’s James Blake is likely to take his place.

The event, to be hosted by the Venetian Macao Resort Hotel, will start with a one set showdown between John McEnroe and Bjorn Borg, followed by a three set match between Federer and either Nadal or Blake. The exhibition will conclude with a 10 point doubles tie-break.
